Debate With A Fine Artist. Sigh.

  1. real life skill? really? really going with that? wow...

And the statue of david was a fantastic work. As was most of the stuff being pumped out around those times, but she really shouldn't expect to coast on the renaissance art when contemporary fine art is making a mockery of everything those TRUE artists stood for. you should have asked her for a more recent example, like, last 3 or 4 decades at least, that's pretty generous.

  2. Indeed, that was what many people in my class said as well. I mean, I'm a big believer in fine art, I believe it is to animation what classical music is to any genre of music now. But for someone who attends an art college to go on such an open forum and say that animation is for "people who count on computers to do their art for them" is unbelievable.

  3. Yeah, that's a phrase i've heard before and i cringed every time. You handled her ignorance much more gracefully than i would've, that's for damn sure :P
